In December 2016 we hosted a Biology Fair at Oakton Elementary School. Fifty-eight students from 2nd through 4th grade took part in the activities during the Fair. The kids got a chance to learn about cell chemistry, to observe cells and flies under a microscope, to extract DNA from strawberries, and to build cell and DNA models using candy. The event was sponsored by the American Society of Cell Biology, ACSB) and was run by volunteers from Northwestern University. The Biology Fair was a big success: students and volunteers got to have fun and learn together. We hope that we can continue to work with Oakton in the future.
